Jorge is currently living at a Christian drug and alcohol rehabilitation center located in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. He is not a believer. Along with Global Aid Network’s local church partner, our team was there to minister to the residents and to help them re-paint the walls of their assembly hall. But while we were painting, Jorge was planning on leaving the center that day.
Noticing that he was not helping and appearing to be disconnected from the rest of the group, Barbara approached him and began a conversation. He said that he was leaving the center because he felt that he might be able to get a job and see his family again.
Led by the Holy Spirit, Barbara shared with him that he needed to stay and get his life restored – both with his addiction and a relationship with Jesus Christ. Jorge prayed with Barbara for help and strength to stick with the rehabilitation program. He decided to remain at the center and joined the rest of the group.
Later on that day another person on the mission team was sharing Christ with two men. Jorge walked up to them and listened in on the gospel discussion. The result was that all three men made a decision to receive Jesus as their Savior. We all rejoiced with them when they announced their new faith.
